    In The Spotlight: Rainier John

    In The Spotlight: Rainier John

For today's In The Spotlight, we have Rainier John, AKA The Dressed Chest, who spoke to us about fashion and hit us with his best Dad joke. You can find him on Instagram at @thedressedchest

Tell me a little bit about yourself.

By day I'm a data engineer at a start-up in Silicon Valley, and a husband and father of three. When I'm not being a dad or a programmer I'm playing dress-up, mixing and matching shirts and ties, textures and patterns, prints and colors.

You have a very carefully curated Instagram feed, do you ever have outfits that don't make the cut?

Lots! There are many photos that don't quite pass the chest. Sometimes it's because the outfit looks off for some reason (say, for example, if a shirt doesn't mix as well with a jacket as I thought it would), and other times it's because the quality of the photo was bad and I didn't have time for a re-take.

Why did you start The Dressed Chest?

I started my Instagram in part because I wanted to keep track of what I wear on a daily basis, but also because a lot of my combinations used to go unnoticed at work. I've been working in the tech industry for about seven years now, and I can safely say that, for better or worse, in most tech companies a person's appearance doesn't matter all that much. I figured I could post my outfits on my personal IG, but at the urging of my sister, I split all these chest photos into their own page.

If you could pick 5 must-have wardrobe items what would they be?

    1. Navy blue knit tie
    2. A solid white, perfect-fitting oxford cloth button-down shirt
    3. A good pair of solid dark blue selvedge jeans
    4. A simple, slim, medium-gray 2-button suit
    5. Chocolate brown double monkstrap shoes

The above pieces make a solid foundation for any guy's wardrobe.

Your Instagram bio tells me you are a Dad. Hit us with your best Dad joke.

I was up all night wondering where the sun had gone. Then it dawned on me.

What or who would be your biggest influences style-wise?

I think the one blog that really took my style where it is now is Scott Schuman's TheSartorialist.com. I love the street style he captures in his photos, and have blatantly stolen many outfits from some of the guys that he photographs.

Which is your favourite Uncle Jack?

Easily the black and white. It's simple, clean, and elegant, and its minimalism makes it a very versatile, easy-to-wear timepiece.

    In The Spotlight: Anastasia Souvlis

Anastasia Souvlis is a Gold Coast blogger, who's big on fitness and positivity. You can find her over on her blog, The Girl Edit.

Tell us about yourself and what you do

My name is Anastasia Souvlis. I am a 24 year old personal blogger from the Gold Coast. When I’m not running around snapping cute pics for Instagram or writing for The Girl Edit, you’ll find me generally with a phone to my ear, another in my hand, trying to juggle my coffee. I work 24/7 in a role that must be lived to truly understand what it’s like, specialising in VIP experience tailoring getaways for the best of the best here on the Gold Coast. My role is very consuming so for me Instagram has become an outlet for me to focus on myself.

You've recently started a blog - The Girl Edit - what was your motivation for that?

I’ve always wanted to blog, but my biggest motivation for The Girl Edit was my 17 year old sister, watching her go through adolescence being subject to the influences of todays society terrified me. She showed me an advice page on Facebook and I was like this just isn’t the type of advice girls should be given. I struggled through my teenage years and I wanted to be a positive influence that would have helped me through those awkward times. I wanted to create a place on social media that reflects more than just the highlights, and show that life isn’t always what you see on Instagram.

What does a day in the life of Anastasia look like?

Within my role, each day is completely different- I can plan something and wake up to a text and my whole day has changed. To combat this I try to keep a strict morning routine, waking up to the sound of Taylor swift at 4:30am, heading to the gym and being home again before the suns up. I usually answer my work emails over my first coffee of the day. Then it's time for my morning walk with Chino before tackling my day in the office. At the end of the day I spend most of the night in the kitchen, trying out new things before I head to bed to get some shuteye before it starts over again the next day.

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

Wow, that’s a tough one! I mean, I have so many inspirations. I feel like in life we collect little bits of everyone and everything we are surrounded by to create who we are. But if I was to pick one person it would be my dad, he’s more like a best friend than a dad. He struggled with Leukemia when he was a teenager so missed out on years of schooling but still has gone on to be very successful in his career. He’s just a regular dad, but he’s damn good at it.

Do you have a favourite quote?

If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of.

What's coming up for you in the rest of 2017?

I’m super excited for the rest of this year! There will be a lot of focus on The Girl Edit, the last few months I’ve allowed myself to just do life away from social media; but I’m back and have a bunch of really cool projects that will start to kick off next month. I am also in the midst of planning a 3 month holiday with my sister, so there will be a lot spent scoping Instagram for cool places to eat overseas. Most exciting of all- my two best friends are getting married this year, two weeks apart so as a bridesmaid to both I am loving all that is involved with planning a wedding.

What's your go-to coffee order in the morning?

When it comes to coffee I feel like no one makes my morning coffee as well as I do. Lately I’ve been loving the cappuccinos but with so much chocolate powder it turns into more of a mocha!

    To the UJ family,

All 200 PC x UJ watches have been dispatched as of today. A huge effort from the team over the past couple of days to get those out! Many customers have already received their watch & we can see lots of posts and Snapchats coming through.

In regards to the PC x UJ collaboration watch, we will not be making available more than the advertised amount of 200 PC x UJ watches. Therefore, those that placed a pre-order once they sold out have been contacted and offered a refund or exchange.

Although we understand the disappointment felt by some from missing out, we feel that it is only fair to the 200 who joined the waiting list & purchased their orders that they not be devalued by releasing more than originally advertised.
